In the financial year of 2009, the Threshold Foundation donated 23,000 Euro to projects that the executive and advisory board considered to be particularly eligible for support due to their geographical and issue-based proximity to the Foundation’s work.

Peacework in Croatia
During the Balkan war, Ana and Otto Raffai from Croatia asked themselves: "What can we personally do to achieve peace?" Consequently, together with other activists, they founded RAND Association in Zagreb, the "Regional Address for Nonviolent Action". One of RAND’s main activities is to give training courses, where participants develop expertise on the subject and get the opportunity to raise self-awareness about “how to create and maintain peace”.

Brochure: Courageously Crossing Thresholds
The brochure Courageously Crossing Thresholds portrays 24 laudable organizations and individuals that have been nominated for the Bremen Peace Award 2009. It briefly and concisely presents credible commitment to peace shown by activists from all continents. Their peace work attracted a lot of international public attention in some cases while the actions of others remained on a minor scale and rather in the shadows.
